ABOUT

Mariana Herrera

I come from a family where gourmet food was the star of our daily life.

My paternal grandmother was one of the first women to study at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, so my father grew up with an excellent gourmet palate, while my mother came from a home where homemade food was wonderfully tasty. This combination made my four siblings and I develop a passion for cooking.

I graduated as a lawyer, always cooking as a hobby. For my parents, only three careers were considered: medicine, law, and engineering. I practiced law for many years, but I never stopped flirting with my true love—COOKING.

I had to emigrate due to the political situation in my country, Venezuela.

I had to leave my profession behind and started a venture, doing a favor for a friend who wanted to get married but couldn’t afford the high prices of catering services. So, I took the chance and made the food for the wedding.

That day, what is now a successful business, @latrufagourmet, was born—my catering company.

In it, we combine influences from all continents, but always with an emphasis on French cuisine, which is part of my heritage and, in my opinion, the birthplace of all refined palates.

I made the decision to study to become a chef, even though I believe the greatest skill a good cook can have is their unique seasoning and creativity. However, there are methods, organization, and management skills that can only be learned through formal training. Managing a business with chefs and staff is difficult without the hierarchy and knowledge to lead this orchestra.
In my search, I found that the Mariano Moreno School met all my expectations—it was exactly what I was looking for, due to its quality and reputation.

I’m incredibly excited that after so much life experience, the opportunity to achieve my dream has finally come.

TO BECOME A CHEF.
